Oh. my. god. I have never been so happy to have found an artist. I’ve kept coming back to this album since the fall and I still keep finding new parts to love. On first listen, my favorite track was CSIRAC, but this week I rediscovered ‘Sing Good’ and fell in LOVE. It's such a perfectly earnest song. She shares her persistence in making music from such a humble point of view. Not being able to ‘sing good’ or play music or do it in the way others have. But, she does it for herself, which is such a simple but pure way to express the passion she has for music.

My favorite part of the song is when she says, “One day, when I’m older, I might do somethin else / But I'll still write the stories, and I'll sing them to myself / I’ll sing them in the kitchen, I’ll sing them when it’s quiet / Cause when the melody is meant for me, I’m gonna find it”. There’s something so beautiful about her creating these songs with no expectations. Just creating to create, which I think is where true art comes from. She’s not making it to be the biggest hit or blow up her career. Just making it for herself, as if she couldn’t stop herself. I think this mindset becomes more and more important as the music industry's reliance on social media and streaming platforms increases.

I think this is such a universal feeling, especially for women. By that I mean, the feeling of not being good enough or the pressure to be perfect at something from the start. Which is why I find her lyrics so pure. As if we, as the listener, get to watch her in the song work past this mindset of not being good at something but continuing anyways.

This style of vulnerable yet digestible lyrics make the song seem all the more conversational. Listening to it feels like talking to a friend. It reminds me of the lyrical style in "I think about it all the time” by Charli XCX. Similarly to Ninajirachi, in this song, Charli is able to describe her thought process in a way that is simultaneously serious and lighthearted. The songs’ narrative arc naturally flows like ideas would in your own head, so even if you can’t relate to what they are experiencing you understand where they are coming from.

I want to write a whole other post about her style of music and what this album means for the genre of hyperpop overall, but for now I’m starting with this. Thanks for reading <3
